چکیده

In both cognitive science and philosophy, many theorists have recently appealed to a predictive processing framework offer explanations of why certain individuals form delusional beliefs. One aim this essay will be illustrate how one could plausibly develop account in different ways for the onset kinds delusions. However, second discuss two significant limitations framework. First, I shall draw on structure explanatory why-questions argue that theories can only partially explain formation Second, cannot implausible hypotheses are generated. Yet understanding an agent even generates hypothesis is crucial step she eventually comes believe it. CARL G. HEMPEL '-Fb v Ga v Ha'. Kim shows generally that his additional requirement blocks the proofs offered by Eberle, Kaplan, and Montague for the five theorems that "trivialize" the defintions (7.8) and (7.9). However, it would be desirable to ascertain more clearly to what extent the additional requirement is justifiable, not on the ad hoc ground that it blocks those proofs, but in terms o...

Explanations of model predictions with live and breakDown packages

Complex models are commonly used in predictive modeling. In this paper we present R packages that can be used to explain predictions from complex black box models and attribute parts of these predictions to input features. We introduce two new approaches and corresponding packages for such attribution, namely live and breakDown. We also compare their results with existing implementations of sta...

Jumping to conclusions in delusional and non-delusional schizophrenic patients.

OBJECTIVE Several studies have provided evidence for the claim that a subgroup of (schizophrenic) patients with current delusions share a jumping to conclusions (JTC) bias. The primary aim of the present study was to investigate whether currently deluded and non-deluded schizophrenic patients perform differently on three tasks tapping probabilistic reasoning. METHOD Probabilistic reasoning wa...

Electroconvulsive therapy in delusional and non-delusional depressive disorder.

Major depressive disorder (MDD) patients (n = 66) treated with electroconvulsive therapy were stratified by the presence (n = 30) or absence (n = 36) of delusional symptoms (by Research Diagnostic Criteria) to compare their response to treatment. At discharge from hospital 83% of the MDD with psychosis group and 58% of the MDD without psychosis group were good responders (P = 0.03). The implica...

Delusional mood and delusional perception -- a phenomenological analysis.

In the initial stages of schizophrenia, the environment as perceived by the patient changes into a puzzling, mysterious and stage-like scenery. At the same time, objects or persons may gain an overwhelming physiognomic expression and may even fuse with the patient's body. The paper explains these different alterations using Husserl's concept of intentional perception on the one hand, and Merlea...
